Matthew is closest to the real Jesus, but it's also been altered since before Rome's lies built on the lies of Saul. Jesus said to live by the Teachings of God in the Torah - all his teachings were supported by it - the Hebrew account - which is not the Greek account. Even the Dead Sea Scrolls back this up. Why did Jesus die? To fulfill prophecy in the Hebrew Scripture. Jesus made no claim to be a blood sacrifice for anyone. Jesus never said his righteiousness is imputed to anyone. Paul was an ignoramus. I've covered the Hebrew Matthew and the relationship of the Torah to the Teachings of Jesus at:

Jesus came to liberate us from lies - but Christians and Jews don't believe him.

Isaiah 1 and Ezekiel 18 both disprove that God cannot forgive unless there is bloodshed.
Genesis says man is capable and responsible to overcome his own sin - or it will rule over him - as Paul reportedly was ruled by sin because he was unable to do the good he knew to do. Christians are really deluded. I think Rome promoted Paul and the Cross theory to foist the Church/State model on deluded masses.
